e-News® | The NEWS Company…TONGI, Jan 10, 2016 : The first phase of three-day Bishwa Ijtema concluded with the ‘Akheri Munajat’, seeking the peace, prosperity and development of the Muslim Ummah, held at the bank of river Turag this noon. Tens of thousands of the Muslims from home and abroad gathered in the second largest congregation of the Muslims after Hajj.
Tablighi Jamaat senior organiser Mawlana Saad conducted the akheri munajat. President Abdul Hamid, his wife and other family members participated in the munajat from his official residence Bangabhaban. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina participated in the munajat from her official residence Gano Bhaban. Ministers, MPs, political leaders and senior officials also took part the concluding prayer along with millions of devotees.
To participate in the munajat, scores of people gathered at the Ijtema venue from early hours of Sunday. Huge crowd was seen after the munajat on different transport modes including bus and train which were leaving Tongi towards different parts in the country. Bangladesh Railway introduced some special train service on certain routes from Tongi after the akheri munajat. The second phase of the Ijtema will be held from January 15 to 17 at the same venue.
