e-News® | The NEWS Company…DHAKA, March 06, 2016 : Shipping Minister Shajahan Khan today urged the tannery owners to shift their industrial units from the city’s Hazaribagh area to the planned leather industrial estate at Savar by 31 March.
“The commission would not do anything if authorities concerned go for cutting gas, power and water connections from April 1,” he said, while speaking at a view exchange meeting with tannery owners and workers at Hazaribagh.
Shajahan Khan, also chairman of River Protection Commission, said the present government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is committed to protect rivers, adding, “If you want to save the country, you have to protect rivers.”
Chairman of River Protection Commission Shajahan Khan, members of the Taskforce for River Protection, Housing and Public Works Minister Engineer Mosharraf Hossain and Land Minister Shamsur Rahman Sherif visited the tannery area. They also spoke in the view exchange meeting. The government set up the industrial estate to keep the capital Dhaka’s environment safe.
