Greed and red of Bangladesh has taken over the virtual world centering on the final match of Asia Cup-2016 where Bangladesh Tigers are readying to roar against India. Showing solidarity and expressing enthusiasm, nearly all Bangladesh people living at home and abroad changed their profile pictures with the logo of Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB).
The BCB logo depicting green field displays the bottom left corner of the users’ profile pictures, where the name of “Bangladesh” is proudly beaming in the bottom right with Bangla alphabet in red and yellow separately. Now, the newsfeed of the social networking site are almost fully occupied by cricket. The nation is gripped by fever as Bangladesh reach the final of the Asia Cup T20-2016 outplaying Pakistan convincingly. BCB on its official Facebook page has put the apps for fans and supporters, which later went viral on the most popular social networking site.
Not only on Facebook, the supporters are also expressing their solidarity with the Bangladesh national cricket team on other social networking sites such as Twitter and Instagram wishing a historic victory against India today at the Asia Cup final. Different embassies, organizations and corporate offices also rendered their support wishing the Tigers good luck on their Facebook pages. US Ambassador Marcia Bernicat and other embassy Officials posted a video wishing good luck for Bangladesh Cricket Team.
The US Embassy said: “Bangladesh Cricket Team is playing with India in the Asia Cup 2016 final this evening! Bangladesh cricket fans can hardly wait for the match when the Tigers start their Asia Cup T20 final!”
“The whole Bangladesh is ONE today and praying and hoping for Mashrafe and his team to roar once again! And to celebrate the occasion, Ambassador Bernicat and the U.S. Embassy Dhaka staff wish the Tigers good luck on today’s Asia Cup finals!”
State Minister for Posts and Telecommunications Tarana Halim has changed her profile picture on Facebook expressing solidarity with Bangladesh national cricket team. State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shahriar Alam also changed his Facebook profile picture to cheer the Tigers. Apart from social media, conversations are becoming more and more animated and in-depth at almost every location in the country particularly in the cities — from tea stalls to coffee shops to shopping malls — everyone is busy analyzing who are going to steer the team towards the coveted victory.
