#thenewscompany : Bangladesh Local Guide is a Google map based volunteer community of global google local guide connects. Bangladesh Local Guide, a chapter of Google map based volunteer community Google Local Guide Connects, started in 2014, and now has over 6,000 members across the country. Volunteers work free of charge to make the use of Google maps smoother for the common people.
Members of this community update various roads, transit, place and other information on Google Maps accurately, and contributed to exact wrong information such as timings, time tables, website links, phone numbers, etc. Places are reviewed with facilities like wheelchair accessibility, kid-friendliness, parking space to ease of getting proper information. Pandemic updates and awareness are also a part of the Campaign and program to enrich the usefulness of the map among the users.
Bangladesh Local Guide recently celebrated their seventh anniversary on the theme “Renewable Energy and Energy Saving Scope in Bangladesh” under the “Save energy towards a better future” program mail title, said a press release.
Abdul Gaffar, representative engineer of Solar Land Bangladesh Limited, gave a presentation on the renewable energy sector in Bangladesh.
Local guide Sirajul Azad called upon the members of all local guides to work for the betterment and enrichment of various information of Bangladesh on Google Maps. He also highlighted the ongoing activities of Google Local Guide Zahirul Islam. Community moderator Mahabub Hasan gave a short speech on various techniques of the Google Map community, under his leadership, Bangladesh Local Guide won the award for the best local guide community in the world from Google. Google Local Guide Connect also awarded him ‘Guiding Star’ for the year 2020.
Mr. Taslim Ahmed, Director, Project Hilsa explained the details of the establishment of Project Hilsa, the unique features of the restaurant and how they have managed to save electricity by using daylight technology in their restaurant and using this system saving the electricity by using natural light. Mr. Sukanto, CEO of Project Hilsa, spoke about the variety and quality of the restaurant’s food.
Masudur Rahim, CEO of Omera Solar, and Junaid Quader Rusho, General Secretary of EXSAACSC, were special guests at the event. The reunion of Bangladesh Local Guide ended with great joy and enthusiasm.
