e-News® | The NEWS Company…DHAKA, September 08, 2015 : Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed today said export to Japan doubled in last five years and is expected to exceed $ 2 billion mark in next three years. The minister expressed this expectation after having a meeting with Japanese Ambassador to Bangladesh, Masato Watanabe, at his secretariat office.
Mentioning Japan as the biggest development partner of Bangladesh, Tofail said at present a total of 230 Japanese organizations are running their operations in the country. He said Japan would be allocated land in the special economic zone in Chittagong, which would help increase Japanese investment in Bangladesh. Referring to Japan’s interest for investing in Bangladesh, Tofail hoped in the coming day trade between the two countries would boost further.
Describing the potentiality of Bangladesh, Masato Watanabe said the country has huge potentiality that is why Japan would invest more in special economic zone. The envoy said Bangladeshi RMG, knitwear and leather have huge demand in Japanese market.
Senior Secretary of the Ministry Hedayetullah Al Mamun was present at the meeting.
