Jaguar has confirmed that it is introducing two additional forced-induction petrol engines to its range for the 2013 model year – a new 3-liter supercharged V6 and a four-cylinder 2-liter I4 turbocharged unit.
Jaguar says that their market launch will enhance customer choice in keymarkets, with the respective supercharging and turbo technology used in each engine realizing high-specific power and torque outputs. The 3-liter V6 supercharged engine draws on key technology used in Jaguar’s acclaimed 5-liter V8, and has higher specific performance than the naturally-aspirated version of that engine. The 3.0 V6 S/C, as it will be marketed, will be available in two states of tune: 380PS/460Nm and 340PS/450Nm. In 380PS form, it produces almost 127PS per liter – the highest specific output of any Jag engine.
The 3.0 V6 S/C 380 will only be available in Jaguar’s forthcoming new sports car, the F-Type, while the 340PS version will also be offered in XF and XJ models.
The 2-liter I4 Ti has been developed to produce 240PS and 340Nm, offering greater performance than Jaguar’s existing naturally-aspirated AJ-V6 engine, but with four-cylinder economy. The 2.0-litre I4 Ti 240 will replace the 3-liter naturally-aspirated petrol AJ-V6 in XF and XJ saloons.
Both engines deliver their power through smooth shifting eight-speed automatic transmissions, and the 3.0 V6 S/C will benefit from Jaguar’s stop/start technology

The introduction of these two additional forced-induction petrol engines is integral to this ambitious plan.”
