e-News® | The NEWS Company…DHAKA Oct 15, 2015 : A three-member team of police along with Kamrul Islam, the main accused of Samiul Alam Rajon murder case of Sylhet, returned from Saudi Arabia this afternoon.
“The police team with Kamrul landed at Shahjalal International Airport by a flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines around 2.58pm,” Assistant Inspector General (public relations) of the Police Headquarters Nazrul Islam told at a press briefing held at the office of airport armed police battalion in the airport. “Bangladesh police repatriated Kamrul through the Interpol as there is no extradition treaty between Bangladesh and Saudi Arabia,” he said, adding that a total of 10 accused of different cases were brought back to home through the Interpol with Kamrul.
The three-member team headed by Mahbubul Karim, additional superintendent of police (police headquarters), left Dhaka for KSA on October 12. Two other members of the team are Md Rahmatullah, additional deputy commissioner (media) of Sylhet Metropolitan Police (SMP) and AFM Nizam Uddin, a senior assistant superintendent of Sylhet police. Police hoped that they will bring back Kamrul on October 15, he added.
Earlier on July 8 , Kamrul along with others brutally tortured to death thirteen-year-old Rajon at Kumargaon Bus Stand area of Sylhet Sadar upazila. Soon after the killing, Kamrul went to Saudi Arabia to evade arrest. A court of Sylhet, on September 22, indicted 13 people, including Kamrul, in a case filed in this connection. Of the accused, 10 have so far been arrested.
