Mobile phone footage of a Labrador chasing deer in a park while his irate owner chases after him has been viewed more than half a million times on YouTube.
In the 47-second film, the runaway dog takes no notice of the man who shouts “Benton” in an increasingly angry voice as he helplessly chases after his pet – and the dozens of deer being pursued by it.
As the man, who is dressed in a beige coat and jeans, comes into shot he is also heard to exclaim “Jesus Christ” as more frightened animals join the herd and run across a road, forcing traffic to come to a standstill.
The clip, which has been seen almost 504,000 times, is titled Jesus Christ in Richmond Park, and has become a popular topic on social media sites such as Twitter.
It has also spawned several spoofs on YouTube, including one where the man’s voice has been mixed with a scene from Jurassic Park where dinosaurs are being chased by T-Rex and one of footage of stampeding wildebeest.
The clip was filmed by Jake Goodyear, 13, from Holloway in north London.
He was visiting the park last Sunday with his father Ali, 37, a gardener.
Mr Goodyear said that the dog was actually called Fenton, not Benton.
He told Absolute Radio’s Christian O’Connell Breakfast show: “I’ve been inundated with people from CBS, CNN, Good Morning America, German newspapers.
“I don’t know what to do – I might get Max Clifford on it!”
