A planet with two suns has been discovered by Nasa – drawing comparisons with a fictional world in Star Wars.
The discovery was made through the Kepler spacecraft, an observatory that is looking for other planets orbiting other stars.
The new planet – called Kepler-16b – is the most “Tatooine-like” planet yet found in our galaxy.
Tatooine was the name given to Luke Skywalker’s home in the Star Wars films.
Unlike Tatooine, Kepler-16b is not thought to be habitable.
It is a cold world, with a gaseous surface, and as it circles two stars, will have two sunsets over the horizon instead of the Earth’s one.
The largest of the two stars, a K dwarf, is about 69% the mass of our Sun.
The smallest, a red dwarf, is about 20% the Sun’s mass.
