DHAKA, Sept 15 – President M Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today urged all to make all-out efforts to protect ozonosphere to ensure a healthy environment for the future generations.
In separate messages on the eve of World Ozone Day 2013, the President and the Prime Minister welcomed the initiative of observing the day in Bangladesh as elsewhere in the world.
The theme of the day this year is ‘A healthy atmosphere, the future we want.”
In his message, the President said the objective of Montreal Protocol adopted on September 16, 1987 was to stop decay of ozone
layer.
The government of Bangladesh is pledge-bound to implement the Montreal Protocol, he added.
In her message, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said the importance of observing World Ozone Day is immense to make the global people aware of the use of environment friendly goods and technologies.
She called upon all, including media, to come forward alongside the government to propagate information relating to the Montreal Protocol.
