#thenewscompany – At a time when the entire country continued to reel under scorching heat, a short spell of rain today brought much needed relief from hot weather to the people of some regions including Dhaka city. An official of Met Office told #thenewscompany that 10 millimeters of rain were recorded at Chuadanga, five mm at Jessore, two mm at Ishurdi. Dhaka city also received some rains this evening, which has indeed brought a respite from blistering heat wave, he added.
The meteorologist said, “Dhaka city and its surrounding areas may witness more rains during next one or two days. As cloudy weather is advancing towards southeastern region in the country, rains are likely to occur at Chandpur, Noakhali, Chittagong and Brahmanbaria.”
According to the Met Office, today’s highest temperature 40.6 degrees Celsius was recorded at Jessore while 37.00 degrees Celsius in the capital. It said abnormally hot weather can be attributed to the absence of pre-Monsoon rains since April. Maximum temperatures in most parts of the country were recorded 4 to 5 degrees Celsius above normal level. As rainfall area is expanding, mercury may go downward trend during the next few days, which will provide a limited relief to the people, they forecasted.
