e-News® | The NEWS Company…ISHWARDI (Pabna), Sept 6, 2014 : Land Minister Shamshur Rahman Sharif yesterday said the Rooppur Atomic Power Generation Center will be implemented quickly for utilizing its generated power for the country’s development effectively.
He said many of the developed nations especially India, Russia, Korea and Pakistan have attained significant successes in power generation after the optimum uses of the atomic energy and Bangladesh will follow the examples through the Rooppur Atomic Power Center.
The minister made this observation while addressing a law and order committee meeting at the conference hall of the center as the chief guest.
State Minister for Science, Information and Technology Yeafesh Osman, Senior Secretary to the Prime Minister’s Office Abul Kalam Azad, Power Secretary Monwar Hossain, Science, Information and Technology Secretary Khandakar Asaduzzaman, Director General of Directorate of Environment Raisul Alam, Joint Secretary to Road Transportation and Bridges Ministry Jamal Uddin and Pabna SP Miraj Uddin Ahmed were present at the meeting with Pabna Deputy Commissioner Kazi Ashraf Uddin in the chair.
The land minister instructed the district magistrate and law enforcers to put in their best efforts to ensure law and order everywhere in the district and the power plant area.
Sharif said there is a need of establishing a police camp in the atomic power plant area to intensify its security.
The district level administrative and police officials and others concerned should have to come forward with all their efforts to restore law and order at any cost to fulfill the hopes and aspirations of the public in general.
Besides, he sought cooperation of the people in checking drug abuse and stressed the need for vigilance and alertness of all to prevent extortion and to bring offenders to book.
State Minister Yeafesh Osman said the law-enforcers will play a supportive role in successful implementation of the present government’s charter of change and Vision-2021 as the success of a government largely depends on law and order situation in the country.
Expressing his grave concern over the issue of drug addiction, the state minister asked them to conduct joint operation to evict and uproot the dens of the drug traffickers, sellers and addicts and took the issue as a challenge.
The meeting decided to take immediate drive against criminals, listed terrorists and extremists groups to recover illegal arms and take legal action against unlicensed motorbike drivers.
It was decided at the meeting to conduct frequent mobile courts to prevent adulteration in food and also to check preservatives injurious to health.
