e-News® | The NEWS Company… :DHAKA, Sept 3, 2014 – The World Bank (WB) would help improve the efficiency of management and cargo handling at the Chittagong Port.
World Bank Country Director Johannes Zutt at a meeting with Planning Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal at planning commission office in the city on Tuesday discussed the port development issue along with the current and the future projects, supported by the multi-donor agency. Zutt emphasized on further development of the country’s prime port saying that the WB would provide the government with necessary financial and technical support for the purpose.
Following the meeting, the planning minister told journalists that the cargo handling at the Chittagong Port improved a lot, but it required further improvement for achieving ultimate efficiency. He said the WB also interest in developing a deep sea port at Kutubdia after conducting a feasibility study in this regard.
