Zee Bangla website was hacked after one its comedy contest ‘Mirakkel-Akkel Challenger’, telecast an episode seen as demeaning the image of the Bangladesh national cricket team.
On Monday morning, the homepage of the website (http://www.zeebangla.com) had the picture of programme host ‘Mir’ crossed out bearing message ‘say no to Mirakkel’.
A group claiming to be Bangladeshi hackers and identifying themselves as ‘Team Haxorsistz’ vented its angst on ‘making a comedy’ of the Banlgadesh cricket team.
“Shame on u mirakkel beakkel loosers, dont ever dare to make comedy of our cricketers,” their message in red showed. “Our cricketers are our pride.”
The message also took a dig at ‘Jamil Ahmed’, the Bangladeshi who had commented on the cricket team at the programme. “Jamil, don’t return to Bangladesh. We, the people of Bangladesh don’t want to see your face again.”
Jamil Ahmed’s performance drew widespread criticism on the social network compelling authorities to apologise. Earlier, Mirakkel posted a status on their facebook fan page (www.facebook.com/mirakkelofficial) apologising for creating an ‘unprecedented situation’ after Jamil Ahmed’s pun angered cricket-lovers of Bangladesh.
Jamil Ahmed is also said to have apologised on air. The show was expected to be aired on May 21. Jamil had compared Bangladesh’s batting style to running to and fro from the lavatory.
Bangladeshi bowlers were also ridiculed, as he sought to compare Bangladesh and India’s cricket team. Jamil Ahmed’s performance was adjudged the best in the episode alongwith another contestant.
