Bangladesh Brand Forum (BBF) awarded top 10 brands of the country in collaboration with Nielsen Bangladesh Limited at the 4th Best Brand Award 2011 in the capital Dhaka on Saturday.
Twenty eight brands of 28 categories were also awarded along with the top 10 local brands for the first time this year at the event, co-sponsored by GLOBATT.
This year, the biggest award of overall number one brand has been won by ‘Parachute cocoanut Oil – a brand of Marico Bangladesh. Parachute successfully overtaking the last three years winner Nokia which came down to the 2nd position among the top 10 brands of the country.
Sunsilk of Unilever Bangladesh, won the third position while Grameenphone acquired the fourth place, soft drink brand 7up, Lux and Fair & Lovely took the fifth, sixth and seventh place consecutively. Toothpaste brand close up took over the eighth position while the ninth position has been taken over jointly by Rupchanda Soyabean and RFL Plastic. Sony took over the 10th position.
This year’s best brand award also presented top 10 local brands for the first time and the number one spot has been clinched by RFL, while Frutika, a local juice brand from the local conglomerate Akij group took the second position and Teer Atta Maida Suzi of City Group takes the third position.
As for the others, Pran Juice, Walton and Mum Water won the forth, fifth and sixth spot respectively. While among the last four Mangolee Juice, Sonali Bank, Dhaka University and Cocacola Noodles are ranked in seventh, eighth, ninth and 10th spot.
Nielsen Bangladesh Ltd did an extensive research on 5000 samples across the country to identify the winning brands. The survey was designed to find the consumer rights, success stories and the market position of the brands, the organizers said, adding that the research was conducted in May 2012.
