Maritime ports advised to hoist local cautionary signal no 3
The monsoon depression over the Northwest Bay and its adjoining area crossed Bangladesh-West Bengal coast near Raimangal River and now lies over southeastern part of Bangladesh and adjoining Gangetic West Bengal.
The depression moved slightly northwards and turned into a deep depression at about 9:00pm Thursday, reports Bangla daily Prothom Alo.
Under the influence the country is experiencing incessant rain and squally wind.
Maritime ports of Chittaong, Cox’s Bazar and Mogla have been advised to keep hoisted local cautionary signal number three.
Moreover, all fishing boats and trawlers over North Bay have been advised to remain in shelter.
Under the influence of the monsoon depression, the low-lying areas of the costal districts of Cox’s Bazar, Chittagong, Noakhali, Feni, Laxmipur, Bhola, Barisal, Patuakhali, Borgona, Chandpur, Pirojpur, Jhalakati, Bagerhat, Khulna, Satkhira and their offshore islands and chars remained inundated by a wind driven surge 2-4 feet higher than normal tide.
