#thenewscompany- The head of a medical board, which has conducted the 2nd autopsy on the body of Comilla Victoria College student Sohagi Jahan Tonu, has received a death threat, reports #thenewscompany.
Dr Kamoda Prosad Saha received the threat through an anonymous letter which reached his Comilla Medical College Hospital office on Tuesday. Talking to reporters around 2pm, Kamoda Prosad said when he went to the office in the morning, he received a two-page letter. The letter reads: “Dr Kamoda Prosad Saha, you’ve created a smokescreen over the killing of Tonu which is turning fatal for you. Don’t try to make the easy case a complex one.”
It also mentioned: “Do you want your family and children to be destroyed? Why are you destroying your life for being biased towards a particular person?” Prosad said he informed the matter to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), the investigating agency of the gruesome murder, and the police super of Comilla who advised him to lodge a general diary in this regard. He said he would lodge the GD with Kotwali Police Station.
Meanwhile, a meeting of the medical board was held on Tuesday over the 2nd autopsy of Tonu, said Kamoda Prosad Saha, the chief of the board. The meeting decided to file a petition with the court for the DNA report following consultations with the medical college principal and lawyers, he said, adding that the fresh autopsy report will be published once the DNA test is received.
On May 17, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) disclosed that it found rape evidence on the body of the Comilla Victoria College student in its DNA test. Earlier, doctors at the Forensic Department of Comilla Medical College Hospital in their first autopsy report did not find any sign of rape before the death of the college girl. On March 28, a local court ordered the exhumation of Tonu’s body for fresh autopsy.
The court order follows ‘discrepancies’ in the investigation agencies’ primary findings and what has been gleaned from her original autopsy. Sohagi Jahan Tonu, the second year student of History Department of Comilla Victoria College and member of Victoria College Theatre, was found dead in a bush beside a culvert inside the Comilla Cantonment on March 20.
