Jan 16, 2014 – Speakers at a human chain and protest rally programme here today strongly protested the violence, attacks, torching, lootings, torture, violation, rape and repression against the minority communities throughout the country.
Terming the attackers on the minority communities as the national enemies, they urged the government to root out all anti- liberation forces through banning of the Jamaat-Shibir forces and religion-based politics on this soil once for all.
District unit of Bangladesh Narimukti Kendra (BNK) organised the programme at press club premises with its district unit president Arsheda Khanum Lizu in the chair.
Hundreds of people from all walks in the society including the human rights, women and political activists, teachers, students, socio-cultural activists, professionals, civil society members and NGO activists took part in the programme.
Former Vice-principal of Rangpur Carmichael College Professor Syeed Sahara Ferdous, teacher of Begum Rokeya University Omar Farooque and Convener of district unit of Bangladesher Samajtantrik Dal (BSD) Comrade Anwar Hossain, addressed.

of district unit of BNK Nazmunnahar Lipi also addressed the programme moderated by its Treasurer Kamrunnahar Khanum Shikha.
The speakers strongly condemned the attacks, arsons, torching and violence against minority communities, looting properties, setting fire on buses and destructions conducted by the anti-liberation Jamaat-Shibir and BNP since the January 5 polls.
They blamed the anti-liberation Jamaat-Shibir forces for conducting organised attacks, violence, abuse, violation, torture and looting of properties like the cowards at the darkness of nights on the minority community people throughout the country.
They demanded immediate arrests and exemplary punishments to the culprits involved with the attacks and violence against the minority communities and crush them ironically so that Bangladesh would never witness such heinous and anti-human activities in future.
They asked the government for banning of the anti-liberation political forces including Jamaat-Shibir and religion-based communal politics to establish permanent peace and stability on this soil for accelerating development activities without any hindrance.
The speakers demanded for ensuring security for all citizens and rehabilitation of the victim minority community people with adequate compensations as they have lost their homes, businesses and properties in the violent attacks, tortures and repressions.
