e-News® | The NEWS Company…DHAKA, Oct 10, 2015 : Observing that the BNP chairperson has changed her strategy to de-stabilise the country, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today categorically said Khaleda Zia is hatching conspiracy from abroad to tarnish Bangladesh’s image by killing the foreigners.
“Khaleda Zia killed numerous people in the name of her so-called movement while she was in the country. Now staying abroad, she is killing the foreign nationals to create panic among them to taint the image of the country… she has taken such an evil strategy and started applying it,” she said
In this connection, Sheikh Hasina urged the people to stay alert against the evil design of the BNP leader and sought their cooperation to foil the evil plan. “There would be no place of militancy and terrorism in the country,” she said.
The Prime Minister said this when newly elected office-bearers of Chittagong, Barisal, Rangpur, Gopalganj and Gazipur Bar Associations called on her at her official Ganobhaban residence here this noon.

Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Advocate Anisul Haque, Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque, Awami League Advisory Council Member Advocate Yusuf Hossain Humayun, AL Law Secretary Advocate Abdul Matin Khashru, former chief whip Abul Hasnat Abdullah and Law Secretary Abu Saleh Sk. Md. Zahirul Haque were present at the dais.
Earlier, the presidents and general secretaries of the bar associations greeted the Prime Minister by presenting flower bouquets. The Awami League chief said the BNP-Jamaat clique has engaged lobbyist in various countries including the UK and the USA to spread negative propaganda against Bangladesh.
“Whenever the country advanced towards development and reached to a respectable position in the world, the BNP-Jamaat nexus is making their allout efforts to destroy the image of the country. ..to achieve their goal, they kill people and do everything necessary,” she added. Referring to BNP-Jamaat atrocities in 2013 and during the 92 days in the beginning of this year, the Prime Minister said women, children–none were spared from their killing and torture. The countrymen never witnessed such a horrific scene in the past, she noted.
The Prime Minister said at the start of this year’s movement, Khaleda Zia announced that she won’t return her residence without overthrowing Awami League government. “To execute her plan, the BNP leader burnt the people to death and torched and destroyed CNG, buses as she did during 2013 in the name of movement to foil the national election,” she added. Describing dreadful situation of the country during the five-year rule of the BNP-Jamaat alliance government, Sheikh Hasina said they created a reign of terror across the country by letting loose their terrorists against the people including opposition leaders and workers.
While talking about the development of the judiciary, the prime Minister spelled out various programmes including formation of the Law Commission, Bangladesh Judicial Administration Training Institute and the Speedy Trial Tribunal. She said the judiciary has been neglected for long time, but after assuming office in 1996, her government carried out massive uplift programmes for the judiciary. “As part of the development programee, our government planned to establish new court buildings in every district,” she said.
About the digitisation of the court activities, she said her government has undertaken a plan to digitise the communication system between the High Court and other courts of the country. She also assured to establish e-library system in the court libraries in phases and provide necessary assistance for more books there. “The people of the country want justice as it is their rights and her government has been working to ensure it,” she said.
In this connection, Sheikh Hasina noted that she does not want that people be deprived of justice like her and regretted that the military dictators who grabbed power after the assassination of the Father of the Nation obstructed the way of trial of the killers of her father, mother and brothers by promulgating ordinance. She said the military dictators rehabilitated the killers of Bangabandhu and posted them in foreign missions like the rehabilitation of war criminals. The Prime Minister in her speech also elaborated various programmes implemented by her government in education, health, ICT, poverty alleviation and other sectors and said the difference between the rich and the poor has been reduced to a great extent as the living standard of the poor has improved significantly .
“Bangladesh has been put on dignified position and the country is now a role model on the world stage thanks to its stunning success in all sectors,” she said.
She said the country’s present power generation capacity crossed 14,000 MW while the 100th power plant has been inaugurated recently with bringing 75 percent people under electricity coverage. The Prime Minister sought cooperation of the countrymen in establishing Bangladesh as the most peaceful and prosperous country in South Asia as dreamt by the Father of the Nation. Assuring of solving the problems of different bar associations in the country, the Prime Minister said the government must do work wherever what is necessary.
