#thenewscompany : Liton Das heaped praise on Mehidy Hasan Miraz to make his task easier as he felt discomfort after getting hit on his elbow during the course of his epic century that led Bangladesh to six-wicket victory in the second Test. By winning the Test, Bangladesh eventually completed a historical Test series victory against Pakistan.
Liton said, when he was unable to hit the ball properly at the start of his innings, due to injury, Miraz’s audacious strokeplay eased the pressure on him completely.
Liton eventually hit 138 and shared 165-run with Miraz for the seventh wicket to help Bangladesh recover from 26-6. Thanks to the duo, Bangladesh conceded just 12 runs and thereafter the bowlers bowled exceptionally well to take the game away from Pakistan.
“Actually the credit goes to Miraz. The way he faced a couple of balls at first, it set the tone. I got hit (in the elbow) and can’t hit that much. So when Miraz was batting, he hit five or six boundaries, and it made everything easier for us,” Liton who was adjudged player of the match said.
“We just had a conversation about killing the momentum because they had a good one at that time, and (we told us) let’s see what happens next. And after lunch break, we feel free to go and just bat.”
He went on to saying: “It’s a big achievement for the Bangladesh cricket team. Being part of this team, I am very happy.”
He also said that total team effort was key behind the landmark victory.
“This is all about team games. If you have to win the Test match, then you have to bat, bowl, and field well. You saw in the first Test game the catch Zakir took and the one I caught off Babar. That’s the momentum we brought. And every batsman bat really well except for the first half of the second Test. All the batting, bowling, and fielding were really well.”
