e-News® | The NEWS Company…RANGPUR, Oct 10, 2015 : The law-enforcement agencies have put maximum priority to ensuring proper investigation into the Japanese citizen Hoshi Kunio murder case considering all possible aspects.
Acting Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Rangpur Range Police and Head of the five-member probe committee Humayun Kabir said this at an unscheduled media briefing at his conference room in the city this afternoon. He attended the briefing after presiding over coordination meeting of the five-member probe committee to assess progress made in investigation process of the murder case and sharing information achieved by members of the committee.
The other members of the committee Major Ashraf of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-13, Police Super Abdur Razzaque, Additional Police Super of Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) Abdus Salam and Additional Police Super of Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Shah Montaz Hossain attended the coordination meeting. While briefing the media workers, the DIG said that allout efforts have been engaged by the law enforcement agencies for ensuring proper investigation to unveil the motive behind the Kunio murder and bring the culprits to book. He said the probe committee has been working relentlessly round the clock and the media workers will be informed as soon as any progress is achieved in the investigation process. Meanwhile, police released the two BRAC Bank officials here today after necessary interrogation in connection with the Kunio murder case as they found no connection of theirs with the murder, police sources said.
Earlier, a police team from Rangpur with the assistance of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police picked up them from Rajshahi city on Thursday night and brought them to Rangpur last night for interrogation. The released persons are Credit Card Officer HM Shahriar Alam and Sales & Services Officer Sultan Nahid of Alupotti Branch of BRAC Bank in Rajshahi city. Meanwhile, leader of Rangpur city unit of BNP Rashedun Nabi Khan Biplob was sent to the jail hajat after police produced him before a Rangpur court yesterday after he underwent four-day interrogation under police remand. However, Humayun Kabir Hira, business partner of the deceased Japanese citizen, has been undergoing interrogation now.
Earlier, a Rangpur court placed BNP leader Rashedun Nabi Khan Biplob and Humayun Kabir Hira on 10-day police remand on Tuesday last. Besides, police have been interrogating two more suspected persons Sweet and Jiban picked from Pabna and Rangpur respectively. Police said a group of three masked criminals, riding on a motorcycle, shot dead Japanese national Hoshi Konyo, 66, in Katchu Alutari village under Kawnia upazila here on the outskirts of the city on last October 3. Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kawnia Thana Rezaul Karim has filed a murder case accusing three unknown assailants in this connection.
Since conducting autopsy of the body of Hoshi Kunio at Rangpur Medical College Hospital (RMCH) morgue on October 4 last, the body has been kept at the mortuary of the hospital in the city.
