DHAKA, May 19, 2013 -Awami League General Secretary and LGRD and Cooperatives Minister Syed Ashraful Islam today said the next general election will be held under the interim government.
“Who will be the head of the interim government would be decided through discussion,” he said while addressing a press conference at the party’s Dhanmondi office here.
Ashraf said there would be no army-backed caretaker government in Bangladesh and a situation like 1/11 would not be allowed again. “We have to uphold the constitution at any cost” he said adding that unconstitutional system in the name of caretaker government would not be acceptable to the people.
AL organized the press conference to place some political proposals and decisions before the press which were taken at the party’s last working committee meeting on May 17.
Among others, party presidium member Nuhul Alam Lenin, joint general secretary Mahbub Ul Alam Hanif, organizing secretary Ahmed Hossain, BM Mozammel Haq MP, AFM Bahauddin Nasim, Abu Sayeed Al Mahmud Swapan and Deputy Office Secretary Mrinal Kanti Das attended the press conference.
