
#thenewscompany -The 9th World Autism Awareness Day was observed in the country today through various programmes. Different government and non-government organizations organized discussions, processions, cultural functions, art competitions and other programmes marking the day.
World Autism Awareness Day is being observed across the globe since 2008 following decision of the UN general assembly. The Social Welfare Ministry organized a discussion at Bangabandhu International Conference in the city today marking the day. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina attended the programme as the chief guest and delivered an important speech.
Presided over by ministry secretary Dr Chowdhury M Babul Hassan, the discussion was also addressed by Health Minister Mohammad Nasim, Chairman of Parliamentary Standing Committee on Social Welfare Ministry Mozammel Hossain and Jatiya Pratibandhi Foundation Managing Director Nasrin Ara Surat Amin.
Nutrition and Autism Research Centre (NARC) held a programme named ‘Light It Up Blue Campaign’ at Manik Mian Avenue in the city. Jatiya Sangsad Deputy Speaker Advocate M Fazle Rabbi Mian addressed the programme as the chief guest. Bangladesh Shishu Academy organized a discussion and a cultural function with participation of challenged children marking the day. A discussion was held at Jahangirnagar University (JU) Senate Hall marking the World Autism Awareness Day with Anandasala Director (honorary) Professor Dr Muhammad Hanif Ali in the chair.
JU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Farzana Islam addressed the function as the chief guest. SS Sirajganj correspondent says the day was observed in the district headquarters. A procession was brought out and a discussion held marking the day. The day was also observed in Narail through holding a rally, a discussion and a cultural function.
